1. Hierarchy
You must obey the hierarchy in the lair! If you do not, you are likely to get in a battle with the cavelead male and/or arret male. If you're not sure what these are, read the "Rules (a must read)" thread.
2. Do Leave
Leaving your lair is a good choice if you're bored, especially if you want to battle or meet a different kind of dragon. Some kinds of dragons will be nice to you, some not. It just depends on your kind:
Ice hates Earth, Electric, and Fire.
Earth hates Ice and Fire.
Electric hates Ice and Earth.
Fire hates Ice.
3. Fighting Wolves
It's actually a good idea, especially if you're an ice dragon. Make sure you bring someone with you so they can guard behind the wolf and make sure they don't escape. If you can get them to fight, they're likely yours, because adult dragons mostly have three times the strength of adult wolves.
